Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Arusha
If you can’t wait to start safari, visit Arusha National Park for a spectacular view of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain. Service is our specialty! We will be there every step of the way to help guide you, and we’ll set everything up according to your preferences so you can relax and enjoy your adventure!
Day 2: Travel to Tarangire
After breakfast, depart to Tarangire National Park. Located two hours southwest of Arusha, Tarangire is a large river valley lined with granite ridges and dotted with swamps. It’s famed for its large herds of elephants (the greatest concentration in Africa) and enormous baobab trees, but it’s also a bird-lovers’ haven with over 550 species of birds. During game drives, you are guaranteed to see elephants, but you may also see lions, leopards, cheetah, gazelle, buffalo, caracal, and of course mongoose-filled termite mounds that dot the landscape. Arrive at your lodge in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game drive.
Day 3: Tarangire National Park
Full day of game viewing in Tarangire.
Day 4: Travel to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After an early breakfast and check-out, enjoy a game drive from Tarangire before heading to Karatu, in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, for your overnight stay. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and an afternoon of activities which can include a nature walk, bike ride, visit to a local village, or just relaxing by the pool.
Day 5: Descent Into Ngorongoro Crater
Arise early morning for breakfast and your descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, perhaps the prettiest place in all of Tanzania. Often referred to as “Africa’s Garden of Eden,” the crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and considered by many to be the Eighth Wonder of the World.
It’s the largest un-flooded and unbroken caldera on Earth, formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago. Now, it’s home to over 30,000 animals, including all members of The Big Five. You will enjoy a full day game drive along with a picnic lunch with the hippos at the Hippo Pool before beginning your ascent to your lodge, which overlooks the crater’s rim.
Day 6: Travel to Ndutu ( Ngorongoro Conservation Area )
Depart after breakfast and set off for Ndutu, a part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area that shares the Southern Serengeti ecosystem. Off-road driving is allowed here, giving you a front-row seat to Nature at her finest. Millions of wildebeest will call this area home for the next few weeks as they give birth to their babies. All the big cats, especially cheetahs and lions, follow the herds to enjoy a wide selection of prey. Witness the Cycle of Life, as some wildebeests are born, while others fall victim to their predators.
Day 7 - 8: Ndutu ( Ngorongoro Conservation Area )
Day 9: Travel to Serengeti
Day 10: Serengeti National Park
Arrive in Arusha where you will be greeted at Kilimanjaro Airport and escorted to your hotel. Most international flights arrive at night. If you choose to arrive in the morning or the day before, you will have the added option to experience Arusha. Explore the curio shops, boutiques and art gallery at Cultural Heritage Centre, or enjoy lunch at the Arusha Coffee Lodge where you can also visit Shanga, a cultural project that employs people with disabilities to create unique, high-quality hand-blown glassware and jewelry using recycled materials.
Day 11: Return To Arusha
Travel back to Arusha where you can choose to travel home, or stay on to enjoy one of our travel extensions, such as the relaxing beaches of Zanzibar, or Gorilla Trekking in Uganda.
