Safari Itinerary
Arrival and Transfer to the Hotel B/B. The Nairobi Serena Hotel
Justly famed for its superlative standards of efficiency, service and hospitality, the elegantly sophisticated Nairobi Serena Hotel. Considered by many to be Nairobi’s finest hotel, the Serena stands amidst lush tropical gardens with panoramic views over Nairobi’s Central Park and the glittering downtown skyline. Despite its pivotal central location, the Serena also remains true to its title and offers an oasis of serenity amidst the bustle of one of Africa’s most vibrant capital cities. Established in the mid-1970s, The Serena Group was launched with a simple but challenging goal; to become the leading hotel group in East Africa. Today this goal has become a reality. Set amongst the lush-green abundance of extensive tropical gardens, looking out over the gentle green avenues of Central Park and commanding a panoramic view over the glittering towers of downtown Nairobi, the Serena Hotel enjoys one of the finest locations in the city. Sensitively constructed from ecologically sympathetic materials, the interior décor of the hotel reflects a kaleidoscope of cultural influences blending Moroccan mystique and a breadth of African heritage into one elegant and harmonious whole.
Sweetwaters Tented Camp, Ol Pejeta Conservancy
A sheltered oasis, clustered around a waterhole and set in the pristine calm of a private wildlife conservancy, Sweetwaters Tented Camp is in a class of its own. Abounding with wildlife, unfettered by the more rigorous strictures of the Kenyan National Parks and designed to offer a charming blend of under canvas ambiance and uncompromising luxury, it has long been the preferred retreat of wilderness and safari lovers alike. One of only four private game reserves in Kenya, Ol Pejeta Conservancy excels in the provision of privileged seclusion and private game viewing. Thanks to its private status it also allows such unforgettable pleasures as the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary (the only place in Kenya to see these highly endangered animals), visits to Morani, a tame black rhino, night game drives, guided bush walks and camel-trekking across game-teaming plains
Depart Mt Kenya after breakfast and proceed south to lake Nakuru, which is often referred to as the pink lake for it’s great masses of pink flamingos. Arrive in time for lunch. Can also see water buck, leopards impala, Buffalo and is currently a rhino sanctuary. Afternoon game drive is taken. Dinner Overnight: Lake Nakuru ELementatita Serena Lodge
Leave Nakuru after breakfast and head for Masai Mara National Reserve which is famous for it’s great herds of wild game. All animals found in Kenya among the “big five” are found here. Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon game drives. Dinner and Overnight: Mara Serena Lodge
The Mara Serena Safari Lodge
Secreted deep within the Masai Mara National Reserve, the Mara Serena Safari Lodge is the ultimate safari destination. Set high on a bush-cloaked hill, embraced by arcing vistas and washed by a sea of richly rolling grasslands, it stands centre-stage to one of Africa’s most dramatic wildlife arenas and has a ringside seat for the greatest wildlife show on Earth, the legendary migration of the wildebeest.
Drawing its inspiration from the traditional Masai cultural motif of a cluster of domed, mud-coloured huts encircled by a “Boma” of brushwood, the Mara Serena offers a rare blend of raw African splendor and sumptuous sophistication. The essentially ethnic décor also draws on a vibrant colour-palette of sun-burst colours, embellished by a unique selection of Masai art to create the look and feel of a traditional bush encampment. The lodge features individual rooms, each with their own balcony and view of eternity, a sky-blue swimming pool and a spectacular restaurant, overlooking a water hole where a fantasia of creatures collect to drink.
Full day with morning and afternoon game drive. Leisure at lodge or visit the Maasai villages- at a small fee paid separately. Meals and Overnight: Mara Serena Lodge
Depart Mara after breakfast and proceed to Amboseli via Nairobi for lunch at Nairobi Restaurant . Arrive to the park at the foot of the snow capped Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. Afternoon game drive is taken. Dinner and Overnight: Amboseli Serena Lodge
Framed against the glorious backdrop of Africa’s highest mountain, the magnificently beautiful Mount Kilimanjaro, surrounded by miles of rolling grasslands, patrolled by vast herds of elephant, shaded by the lush, feathered-green of an acacia grove and hugging the banks of a gently flowing river, this very traditional yet supremely luxurious lodge is the safari destination of a lifetime.
Amboseli National Park
Amboseli National Park provides the classic Hollywood image of Africa. Set in rolling savannah scenery it is dwarfed by the presence of the pink-tinged, snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro which, at 5,896 meters, is the highest free-standing mountain in the world and topped by one fifth of all the ice in Africa. Against this magnificent backdrop roam vast herds of elephant accompanied by a kaleidoscope of other fabulous beasts – lion, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, baboon, gazelle hippo and wildebeest to name but a few. There are also over 400 species of birds, all manner of reptilian, flora and fauna and some of the most soul-searing views in Africa.
Full day with two game drive. Meals and Overnight: Amboseli Serena Lodge
Today we leave in the morning heading out for Tsavo West National Park. We expect to arrive at Kilanguni Serena Lodge in time for Lunch. Dinner and Overnight: Kilanguni Serena Lodge. The first lodge ever to be built in a Kenyan National Park, Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge is superbly situated in the lee of Mount Kilimanjaro, encircled by volcanic splendour, adjacent to a teeming water hole and daily visited by vast herds of elephant, buffalo and plains game. Inspirationally positioned so that not only all the rooms but also the open-air restaurant, timbered game-viewing decks and rock-built bar enjoy uninterrupted views of the legendary snows of Kilimanjaro, the lodge also stands central to miles of lion-stalked grasslands, elephant-studded plains and wildlife-teeming bush and is ideally placed for visits to all the park’s prime attractions. Faced in volcanic stone and utilizing the natural rocky outcrops of a valley known as ‘the place of the young rhino’, from which it takes its name, the lodge has been designed to blend chameleon-like into the savannah landscape. Cool, tranquil and hushed for optimum game-viewing the open-air dining area, timbered decks and rock-hewn bar blend the traditional “khaki-and-canvas” look with bright-painted banners, sepia-hued paintings and evocative olive-wood carvings of elephant herds and tail-erect wart hogs. The elegantly renovated rooms draw on a sun-gold, sky-blue and bush-green savannah colour palette and have been so styled to provide world-class luxury and a quintessential African aura whilst featuring private verandas with views of eternity.
