Lake Elementaita is home to 450 species of birds, including greater and lesser flamingos and many migratory birds. The habitats support the conservation of herbivores and Carnivores such as giraffes, Buffaloes, Leopards, and hyenas. Best Time to Visit Lake Elementaita

The best time to visit Lake Elementaita is during the dry season, which runs from July to October and January to February. If you plan to conduct many outdoor activities, this is the best time to go.

April is especially great for birdwatching and migratory species such as flamingos. However, Lake Elementaita Wildlife Sanctuary is a pleasant destination throughout the year.

Note that the sanctuary has two rainy seasons: April to June (long rains) and November to December (short rains).

  • By Road: Lake Elementaita can be accessed by the Trans-African Highway (A104). The park is approximately 74.56 miles (120km) north of Nairobi.
  • By Air: Nakuru (Lanet) and Soysambu Airstrip are the nearest airstrips.
