Shompole Wilderness
Shompole Wilderness is a small, exclusive tented camp on the Shompole Conservancy. It is situated on the banks of the Ewaso Ng’iro River on Shompole Community Land. The camp offers a unique opportunity to combine wildlife watching in the Great Rift Valley with the stunning scenery of Lake Magadi and Lake Natron. It also offers the opportunity to gain experience in Maasai culture and traditions.

Best Time to Visit Shompole Conservancy
Dry Season (July – October): This period offers excellent wildlife viewing as most animals congregate around water sources, making it easier to spot wildlife. If you plan to conduct many outdoor activities, it is better to go during the dry season.
Green Season (November – June): This period sees occasional rains, resulting in lush greenery and beautiful landscapes. It is an excellent time for birdwatching and enjoying the vibrant flora.
How to get to Shompole Conservancy
By Road: The Shompole Conservancy is about a 3–4-hour drive from Nairobi. It is advisable to use a 4×4 vehicle, as the roads can be rough. Ensure you have a map or GPS, as signage can be minimal.
By Air: Magadi Airstrip or Kilimanjaro Airstrip are the nearest airstrips.
